Kim with Dachshund Rescue of North America is trying to move a three month old Blind Double Dapple Dachshund puppy from Arkansas to Kim in Boston, MA so that she can foster him. She says he could leave from Tulsa, OK; Memphis, TN; or Little Rocky, AR. as there are DRNA members in that area that could get him transported to one of those locations. They are looking into flying him commercially but thought she would contact ARF as well.

We've been working on this project behind the scenes in email. This little puppy is on his way via car transport...he is now in Memphis. By Friday, he'll be in Knoxville. That's where ARF will take over. Still finalizing the details but ultimately Apollo should be on a plane to Woburn, MA, by Saturday. More to come...

Hi everyone! We have been monitoring the weather along our route for Fri/Sat and putting a flight plan together. To summarize, we are working to combine three rescue flights this weekend. Here's the plan:
Friday (tomorrow): Depart White Plains, NY, at 3pm for Knoxville Island Airport. Arrive around 10pm. Stay overnight. Saturday: 1000am - Receive Apollo at Knoxville Downtown Island Airport 1030am - Depart Knoxville, TN 1230pm - Arrive Mountain Empire Airport in Wytheville, VA, to pick up pregnant dachshund 100pm - Depart Wytheville, VA 230pm - Fuel stop 300pm - Depart fuel stop 400pm - Arrive Hagerstown, MD, to pick up the pregnant Plott hound 430pm - Depart Hagerstown, MD 630pm - Arrive Waterbury-Oxford Airport in Oxford, CT, to drop off pregnant dogs 700pm - Depart Oxford, CT 730pm - Arrive fuel stop 800pm - Depart fuel stop 900pm - Arrive Beverly, MA, to drop off Apollo The Wytheville transport is not 100% confirmed yet. If the dog is not ready to be moved, we'll send out a new itinerary. There are three cockerspaniels in Ohio that potentially may need a ride but we won't be able to fit them in if we take the dachshund. With the dachshund more on the way, she gets priority. We have to have quick turn-arounds at each stop or we'll get way behind...it's already a long day of flying so we will be very focused on staying on-time. To keep things fast and simple, we'll make one phone call at each stop to the next person we'll be meeting. Otherwise, we'll depend on the people we see at each stop to get the word out about our progress to the rest of the group on this email distribution list. Please keep in mind that planes are affected greatly by the wind. A headwind or tailwind can easily change an arrival time to plus or minus 30 minutes. We do our best to estimate our flight times based on what we know at the moment. If we are late, be patient...don't worry...we'll show up eventually. The only issue we are facing is possible inclement weather in Tennessee on Friday night and Saturday. We'll keep an eye on the weather and let you know whether we'll have to make any adjustments to our flight plan or not. One last request...could we please get the names of the two pregnant dogs? Otherwise, we'll have to resort to calling one Plottmama and the other Dachmama. :-) Thanks and looking forward to meeting everyone and especially the dogs! Julia and Clark Animal Rescue Flights |

Stephanie sent this message in reply to the above posting:
I guess we can call the plott hound momma Hope and the doxie momma Joy just so we have names for them. :) Response from Julia and Clark: WE LOVE IT!!!! If they don't already have names, we think these should be theirs! :-) |

At the moment, the weather looks great for our flight today. We still haven't received confirmation on the dachshund in Wytheville so, for the moment, the flight plan remains the same. The next weather forecast comes out at 2pm so we'll check that right before we take off...it will give us a good idea of tomorrow's weather as well.
Thanks and see you soon! Julia and Clark |
